Updates from the chair

Fellow Solidarians,

Happy Independence Day!  I am writing to you as the newly elected Chair of the Texas Solidarity Party, and there are many exciting updates to share.

Our 2022 State Convention

Our party held its biennial state convention on July 2, 2022 at the Najim Campus Center of Providence Catholic School in San Antonio, Texas.  I would like to thank our members who traveled to join us and our hosts for allowing the use of their facility for such a great event.  Our outgoing state executive committee has my appreciation and the appreciation of our members for their hard work over the last two years.

The attendees at the convention passed our first Texas Solidarity Party Platform.  Our state party platform is similar to the national platform but with a Texas flair and focus.  You can read the newly adopted platform on our website:  https://txsolidarity.party/?page_id=535

The convention also formally endorsed Dr. Jacqueline Abernathy for Governor of Texas.  If you are not familiar with Dr. Abernathy, please visit her campaign website:  abernathyfortx.com  Dr. Abernathy needs your financial support to secure official write-in access and to reach any many Texans as possible with our message of Solidarity.  You can donate to her campaign at:  https://givebutter.com/1DSQl8

The convention elected a new state executive committee as follows:

Jack Ternan, Chair
Sarah Chia, Vice-Chair
Nicholas Mataya, Secretary
Brian Talbot, Treasurer
Warren Christilles, Member at Large

Mr. Christilles will also continue his role as the Local Development Director.

The 2022 National Convention

On June 24 and 25, 2022, the delegates to the 2022 regular convention of the American Solidarity Party met to discuss next steps for the national party.  The delegates decided that the party will nominate a candidate for President through a direct election of the voting membership.  This direct election will occur in the spring of 2023 in order to ensure adequate time to secure ballot access for our nominee.

I am pleased to report that the first in-person national convention of the American Solidarity Party will occur next year in the Dallas / Fort Worth area.  This will be a great opportunity for members of the Texas Solidarity Party to show off our great state and get to know members of our party from across the nation.  Opportunities to volunteer will be forthcoming.  If you want to mark your calendar, the in-person events will occur on June 30, July 1, and July 2, 2023.

What’s Next

One of my goals for 2022-2024 is to grow our state party to 1,000 members.  To reach that goal, we need to retain and engage the members that we already have.  You should expect more frequent communication regarding the activities of the party and ways to get involved.

If you have read this far into my message, I would like to hear from you.  Please email me at chair@txsolidarity.party and let me know how you heard about our party and why you joined.  If you have suggestions for ways to improve, please share those ideas as well.

In Solidarity,
Jack Ternan
Chair of the Texas Solidarity Party
